My husband kept reminiscing about our old coleman cooler that was metal and locked, so I ordered a new one for his birthday. We liked how the older cooler kept things cold for a longer period of time than our plastic ones and he wanted a cooler with a smooth surface to put stickers on.When he pulled the cooler out of the box, we instantly noticed the dents on the front. He said, "We'll dent it more than that." I pointed out that we could put a sticker over it. I noticed another dent that is on a corner this morning.If you are looking for perfection, pay attention to how many reviews state that it arrives dented, because it likely will. If you are like us and it won't bother you, order away. The dents won't affect how it functions.This is it! I have arrived!My dad had a steel belted Coleman in the 80's and it went EVERYWHERE! And try as we might, my surly, juvenile delinquent friends (whom my father always insisted come on our river runs and camping trips in order to keep us out of reform school) could not destroy it! Only reason I bought my own is that his disappeared after he passed. (I figure one of those aforementioned friends lifted it!).So now, I have my OWN Coleman Steel Belted cooler!! I opted for the Big Red, since it reeks of retro coolness, but the real reason I purchased it, is that it is the pinnacle of camping coolers!My son and I took it for a test run the weekend we got it and it kept cool and kept ice for three days, all of which had temps in the high 80's!You can spend the price of a good used car on your fancy cryptozoologically named ice chest, but those of us who actually adventure know best. And the Coleman Steel Belted cooler- THAT'S the best.I can die happy, now that I own one!Looks like a Studebaker, performs like a Cadillac. As all of the reviews say, you have to prime it. Ice and drain. Served me well when I used it the first time. Had ice to keep the beer more than frigid, and ice for cocktails. What more could you ask for? A handsome, functional product.First, this is a nice upgrade and a flashback to a previous era of quality and durability. I purchased this cooler as both a loyal Coleman customer and for the sake of nostalgia. Growing up, we owned a Coleman green steel cooler and it lasted well over 40 years, in fact, my parents still have it and use it. I have owned several Coleman coolers but wanted to return to the steel belted look and study feel, I felt was missing from the more modern plastic coolers. I finally splurged and purchased one. However, when I went to use it for the first time it leaked from the drain spout. I tried tightening it, leaked. I removed it and reinstalled it, continues to leak. I finally sealed it with caulk, but should not have had to do that. I am disappointed. I have used it and it is too late to return it, but it appears the drain spout is not well fitted. Four Stars out of Five.Had a big dent in it so can't be that strongHave been using and abusing this thing over the past 2 years, goes on every road trip and camping adventure we take. Thing has held up absolutely amazingly. Holds ice great, holds plenty of food and drinks. Also works great as a seat and/or step when need be. I have noticed there's some spray foam slightly poking out of one of the seams, but at least that means it's filled well, so I am not marking it down at all for that. I bought mine as a Warehouse Deal so there's a little dent in it, but nothing that is annoying.It's a good size, it feels pretty sturdy and it's very pretty - Actually that last part is a bit of a con because it looks so nice, I don't want to batter it about and scratch it, which by the end of next summer, it is going to be.Aaanyway, if you like that retro look and you want a cooler that seems pretty good and insulated well enough for a couple of days away; then this is the one you want!Hopefully, somebody finds this review helpful!Una excelente hielera para que armes tu picnic al puro estilo de los 60's o 70's muy bien hecho, bastante resistente, te puedes sentar en ella misma siempre y cuando no peses más de 120Kg.Mantiene las cosas a muy buena temperatura pero recuerda que es una hielera y deberás meter hielo para mantener los alimentos frescos.El dren es con un tapón que colocas y quitas para drenar, no es una válvula.Compré el color verde.Nice cooler but not as good as the old style they are trying to make it look like. Do like the twist closure for the top but it is plastic and not sturdy. Did not keep ice longer than a cheaper model you could get at walmart for a lot less. Wish it was more like the retro it is trying to look like
