A simple solution that works on all types of stoves. Just follow the instructions ?One review said there was wobbling with a small pot but you can likely use it a bit off center and place the pot on the points off center. The SimmerMat is fantastic! No more scorching of spaghetti sauce or rice. Highly recommend. When I would cook a big pot of chili or something similar, I would frequently end up with a burned spot on the bottom of the pot from simmering for hours. I bought a different flame diffuser to protect the pot from the flame but it has a hole in the center. All that did was make the burned spot the size of the hole even when simmering on a low BTU burner at the lowest setting. Still looking to solve the problem, I ordered a SimmerMat. That solved the problem. My only wish is that the SimmerMat was thicker and could endure a heat setting higher than simmer. But the SimmerMat is lightweight and easy to store. I would definitely recommend a SimmerMat if you are only using it for [relatively] low heat.Only complaint is that the nubs on the top, you can't put a small pot on it, it wobbles. I have a gas stove and I can never get something to a simmer and this does the job.Nothing to dislike.Good productBest for stovetop tajin cookingA few months ago we installed an Empava cooktop that we bought on Amazon. If one looks at the reviews for the Empava you will see that the number one bitch about is that even the smallest burner runs too hot to reliably simmer anything. With most USA designed and or manufactured cooktops you can remove a knob and adjust the gas flow but not the Empava. Based on the pics sent to me by Empava tech support, one would have to remove the cooktop and drop the bottom while leaving it connected the gas supply and electricity in order to adjust the flame. Oy!So when I learned that there was such a thing as a flame tamer, I order this simmer mat. It worked like a charm in that my sauces etc no longer burn but.... this mat is VERY light. Consequently when you move a lot around or even stir the contents of a pot the mat tends to move around. I find myself constantly having to pickup the pot/pan and recenter the mat. I'm probably going to go with cast iron.Bought this to aid simmer ring on my ceramic hob. It is the only simmer ring I could find that is advertised as suitable for glass/ceramic use, as well as gas and electric (see picture on cover). It did work quite well when I used it but the black paint melted and as it cooled it stuck to the top of my cooker and when I lifted it, it took the top surface of the glass with it!! See photos of damage!Would not recommend this at all, as I think the paint would melt on any type of stove and could make quite a mess!! There is a cast iron one on Amazon which might be better for gas, but again not suitable for ceramic.I wouldn't even give this one star, as it is totally useless.Best kitchen gadget I've bought in a long time. Now indispensable. No more burnt pans; & soups/ stews etc simmer gently while I wash up/ read a book. Saves all that lingering over a hot stove, adjusting the flame, scraping the bottom of the pan...Great price too, and easy to keep pristine.Bought this for my campervan and use it all the time. Distributes the heat well to have more control over your cooking.Don't use it under a kettle though or it'll take ages to boilEspecially good on the portable gas cooker where there is next to no heat control.Yes, it really does work. I have dual hob - gas and induction. Read the instructions: one way up for gas, the other for induction. Simples. Haven’t used it on the induction hobs as they go down really low, but it’s excellent to get a decent rolling simmer on the gas hobs.I used this today for making a bolognese, it simmered for 4 hrs. No caught bits on the bottom. Absolutely excellent, I’ve wanted something to stop stews etc catching on the bottom of the pan.
